Wheel and Ween! (Halloween)

As I sit here watching Wheel of Fortune thinking, "When did people start buying so many vowels?" and "Why don't they have throw back week"? I mean name one person that wouldn't love to see a good ole fashioned prize gallery!  Please notice in this clip that Bob looks just like Napoleon Dynamite and at minute 6:40 Norma buys a "telephone answering system" (and its a beauty)! I did shamelessly scour the Internet to find a clip of Pat and Vanna drunk, but since the show has been on FOREVER, there just was to much to look at!

I can't tell you enough how much I love Halloween! I.LOVE.HALLOWEEN. I can and do go a little overboard on decorating. This is just a small taste of what our house looks like.  I'll try to take more pictures before I take it all down. I also have an "Wizard of OZ" tutorial I'm hoping to add.

So this is my1950s kitchen table I bought at a garage sale for $15 (it has the leaf with it but it's in the attic for now). Mama fixed it up really pretty. She also recovered the chairs to match. The chairs mama already had and we used plastic picnic table cloth to cover. ($4). I might have already posted about this, but I'm super proud of it.

I got the place mats at Meijer for $1 each. I took the owls out of my room. The black and white candles and tray have been on our the table by our sofa forever. So the price of my AH-MAZE-ING table decor $4.

I went a little overboard buying place mats. They had skeletons, pumpkins, AND spiderwebs. I had to have two of each! So with the extra, sis hung it from a mirror with ribbon we already had. The pumpkins have been around for ages. The spider on the right is real. JUST KIDDING but it is the only thing left from an ex-boyfriend. (Well, I kept the Coach purse, too!)ha The witches broom I borrowed from mama. KIDDING AGAIN, I bought it this season from Goodwill for $2.99. Total of this display $3.99.

I think now you are getting the idea that my Halloween obsession isn't new. The jack-o-lantern candle is old news. Sis is obsessed with blue Ball jars.  Those are out on the mirror all year around. The orange vases are just milk glass that I painted with orange spray paint. The leaves came off a wreath we got at Goodwill Outlet. I have sold some orange painted glass, so basically it has already paid for itself. The leaves might have cost $1 on the high end. I have no clue where the sparkly orange sprigs came from but they look cute!

So my newest obsession = these antlers. I got them at Rustic Hutch. I was visiting cousins in Fort Wayne and they took me to Jefferson Pointe. As we were walking out I saw a sign 1/2 price Halloween. I thought I was already over my shopping budget but once I recalculated, I realized once again Math is not my strong suit, I have enough left for these! Ha

The antlers were $24 and not on sale. (SHAME ON ME) I plan on keeping them up year around. Picture them with Christmas ornaments hanging from them. CUTE.

The spider is old school, I'm sure it came from the dollar tree years ago. I bought the "spider web" at the dollar store. I couldn't even use the entire bag. Which means leftovers for next year! Not including the antlers b/c those are all year, it cost $1.

Like I said that's just a touch of what I've done.  I'll make sure to take pictures of the outside. It's not scary so don't worry. Ha

Another one of my obsessions is about to start, Heart of Dixie is coming on. If you haven't watched it. You really need to! It is funny, flirty, and southern. Three of my favorite things! It doesn't hurt the guys in the cast are HOT! It's on the CW on Mondays. Check it out!
See cute guys, Rachael Bilson and Jamie King. Can't go wrong!

Obsession Confession Pinterest- Part One

This wasn't the post I was planning this week but a trip to the E.R. and a pounding headache, I had to dip into my "emergency posts". I'm not a planner, these aren't post that I meant to write but sometimes I have an idea (good, bad, ugly) and I jot it down on this little blog. They aren't my best but I can't always be on my "A" game. Actually when it comes to the blog world, I don't have an "A"game yet. BUT ANYWAY here we go....

I feel like I'm cheating everyone out of a long awaited "Obsession Confession". I mean Pinterest is most sane peoples obsession. I would say lets form a support group over pinning but at the end of the day, it's not harmful. The only thing it truly is... is AWESOME! I'm not suggesting anyone pin and drive or drinking and pinning (Wait, I do suggest drinking and pinning. I even suggest pinning new drinks).

If us semi non-celebrity people don't want to share it, we keep it off the Internet (or should at least try). So to me Pinterest means sharing and inspiring. I was talking to someone (I'm so sorry I forgot who) but she said that pinterest isn't stealing ideas but putting your spin on someones amazing creativeness.

I thought we would share some of the spins we've put on pins.

The first original pin (hereafter called "OP") was from Celebrations at Home blog. It was called the "Vintage Cowgirl Party"

I fell in love with the vintage barn feel.  I knew we MUST to do this for Restyled Barn Sale. At the time, I didn't realize what a pain it would be to do, but I knew we had to do it!

Our Spin- (hereafter known as "OS") The OP has a clean, less cluttered feel. We needed to a little more then lemonade and cake on the table. :)  We were there to sell not celebrate, so we loaded that baby up!! This picture was from the first day of the barn sale. We don't even have half the stuff in this picture still! It's sad but at the same time, I'm glad they went to good homes!

On the next one, I'm not sure what came first the chicken or the egg. I have a feeling that Sis might have seen it on a website, but I'm not sure it was Pinterest.

Possible OP- I'm lovin' the colors, but with our wide range of goodness, we can't really make a letter and/or pick what colors people will want. I don't want you to get me wrong, Sis will make you whatever color with whatever letter or shape you want. It's just for our market days, hearts work better.

OS-  The heart is done in a picture frame so you can choose the paper and colors of your liking. WAIT WHAT? That's right you can change the background all you want and still have an awesome heart.True story.

Early in the spring, (I think time is flllllyyyying) Sis and I went to Woodruff Place to hit up the flea market. We found shutters, ALL sizes of shutters (if you are looking for them let us know). They have been in our warehouse with a number of vintage windows, doors, and an AH-MAZE-ING cabinet door...etc, etc.

OP- I loved it. I love anything that you can put stuff in or around and make it look like we are trying to organize!

OS- So look past lovely "Flynn the Flamingo" to the pink shutter behind him. I KNOW IT'S HARD, Flynn is soo cute. Believe it or not, I don't have a bunch of stuff jammed into it YET. This picture once again reminds me of the importance of a good camera. The OP picture has sooo much more detail. Just in case it counts, this was with my two year old EVO and no photo shop!

This summer when we were re-doing our outdoor living space, we of course turned to Pinterest for ideas. We live on a small lot and have a small deck, so we didn't want a"real" fence. We just wanted a little shade and a little privacy.

OP- I think this is made out of pallets, which I love. Pallets weren't really what we are thinking. We saw this and started brain storming other ideas. We came up with lattice. I wish we had this much room on our deck. I would have loved to add the seating and planters.

OS- We (Mom's guys Jessie) made a lattice wall. This keeps the space open, yet private and give us some afternoon shade. Unlike the OP, our wall doesn't go the entire length of the deck and it is only on one side. Our backyard also has elephant grass which makes for a nice natural fence. (Even if our neighbors don't like it, we do) If you missed our outdoor living makeover click here to check it out.

So what are we up to you ask....
NO GOOD! JUST KIDDING!

The Indie Arts and Vintage Marketplace 10-13-12 from 9-4. I just heard from Jon that they have reached 100 vendors! Rumor also has it that they now have 9 food trucks and of course Sun King beer.

Visiting the Alford Cousins (another invite only)

On October 27, Irvington Halloween. I do love Irvington at Halloween!

Other then that we are looking into a couple of other things for this holiday season. REALLY? I'm already talking about the Holiday Season. I still am trying to find July.

If you have something you would like us to be part of or are looking for any vintage or vintage inspired (or pinterest inspired) designs, let us know!

Parting words,
A.G.

Since I'm still looking for the "sign off" I found out that 'sign off" is actually means parting words. I thought The Dadster might enjoy that!

It's Fall Ya'll

I love fall. It's finally out there. I put it out into the universe. I'm sure someday it will come back to haunt me. Get it October = Fall= Halloween = haunting!?

Anyway, if you know me I don't like scary things, scary people, costumes, Phil Collins, masks, clowns, jeopardy (except for teen), dark places.... get the point? No scary things for CoCo.

I am an Indiana girl from an Indiana town, so you would think loving fall would be easy. Fall equals beautiful color of leaves, cute sweaters, and most importantly football.  I'm blessed to be in the same city(ish) as THE AH-MAZE-ING Indianapolis Colts, (who will be in the Superbowl again within the next two years). Scream, Yell, GO HORSE!

For those of us who speak Indianaian, you know fall  means winter is coming. If every winter was like last years, I would be alright with it. Since, I was born a Hooiser, I'm not holding my breath. Last winter we had the blessing of the Superbowl Gods and that is the ONLY explanation I can give.

So now we sit on the edge of our seat and wait. Wait for the weather to drop and wait for the first snow. Even my Boo Chuck Lofton, can't totally predict how much snow OR WORSE ice.  (Now for a gratuitous picture of Chuck)

 (Chuck thinks I'm great)

To keep myself occupied, I watch a lot of football and decorate (on a budget, of course). I mean who doesn't love decorating for Halloween and/or Fall? I love decorating for ALL holidays. Halloween will be getting at least two days for decor. Christmas gets about two weeks.

Want a tiny...itty bitty sample?

After reading one of our Obsession Confessions, our friend Nicki from The Vintage Farmhouse gave me a bag full of old photos. I wasn't sure at the time what my plans were, but I figured out that I would use some of them as Halloween decor.

Horns and stash = sooo cute!

I'm not asking for you to compliment my drawing skills, but I did draw that bat! That my friends is why Sissy is the artist.

Sis also made this non-scary spider web. It's a doily with a spider, simple and cute. We have picked up a ton of stitching circles at various Goodwills and rummage sales. The spiders came from the dollar store and I can't tell you were the doily came from except to say it was in our fabric cabinet.
Flair pumpkins are so far my fave of the decor.  I painted them with primer. I was painting something else and thought why not?! Then sis added the flair and burlap. Sis painted pumpkins in black and flaired them out. Those sold out FAST! Our first round of flair pumpkins came off of a wreath for a door that we picked up at GW. Flair pumpkins are in high demand, so we've had to go out and buy some new ones (but on sale of course)

This is a small sample of what's to come! Nothing scary... I hope.

And that's the way it is.-Walter Cronkite

Still working on the our sign off.
